Summary

Insurance group Royal & SunAlliance has implemented a realtime environmental management system to monitor and control threats to its business critical communications network. The REM Enterprise solution allows the company to be proactive in dealing with risks and avoiding failures. It provides a sensor topologyi mapped to each area of the communications estate. Monitoring data is fed to a single dedicated server that analyses thresholds and issues alerts to a Web interface, to individuals by SMS or email notifications, and as SNMPi data to third-party systems. REM provided the means to integrate between R&SA's existing proprietary monitoring devices and their standard SNMPi NMSi service.

REM Enterprise was developed by REM Probe Ltd as a hardware neutral network appliancei, capable of integrating with any monitoring and information management infrastructure. Since installing the solution, Royal & SunAlliance has enhanced collaboration between system integrator and facilities management partners, reduced lost revenues caused by communications failures, protected staff productivity in its call centres and improved the continuity of its customer services.
